Shirley co-titlist at Grover Page, Murray State finishes third

Junior Kyle Shirley was the co-titlist at the Grover Page Classic, held March 7-8 at the par-72, 6,483-yard Pickwick State Park Golf Course in Pickwick Dam, Tenn., to help the Racers to a third-place finish in the 10-team event.
Shirley shared the best score in the 67-golfer meet with an even-par 216. Shirley opened the first round with a 75, but came back with a 70 in the second round and a 71 in the third.
Junior Jamie Frazier tied for fifth with a 220, while freshman Jerry Price and junior Will Cox tied for 16th at 225 and sophomore Nicholas Griffin tied for 28th with a 230.
Murray State scored a 298-292-298 = 888, just eight strokes behind winner Belmont. Host Tennessee-Martin was second at 884, followed by Murray State, Southeast Missouri State at 895, Lewis at 908, Loyola (Ill.) at 929, Southern Indiana at 931, Bradley at 933, Chicago State at 995 and Kentucky Wesleyan at 1012.
Murray State will next compete at the North/South Intercollegiate at Jacksonville, Fla., on March 14-15, hosted by Butler.
