Racers rally to finish fourth

The Murray State men's golf team rallied with a round second-best score of 281 to push past a cluster of teams to place fourth in the 18-team Billiken Invitational, held at the par-71, 6,769-yard Gateway National Golf Course in Madison, Ill.
The Racers finished on top of an eight-team cluster separated by seven strokes, finishing with a three-round score of 868. Nicholas Griffin fired a third-round 66, the second-best round in the entire tournament.
Austin Peay won the tournament with a score of 837, followed by Western Illinois at 859, host Saint Louis at 863, Murray State at 868, Southeast Missouri State 869, Lindenwood 871, Wisconsin-Green Bay and Missouri-Kansas City tied at 872, Missouri Baptist and DePaul tied at 874, Tennessee-Martin 875, North Dakota State 878, Dayton and Cincinnati tied at 883, Eastern Illinois 904, Bradley 907, South Dakota State 913 and Creighton 918.
Kyle Shirley tied for seventh in the 95-golfer meet with a score of 211, just four shots behind first place. Michael Craft tied for 31st with a 220, while Jerry Price and Griffin tied at 224 and Jamie Frazier had a 225.
Murray State will next compete at the Ohio Valley Conference Championship on April 18-20 in Decatur, Ala.
