Kraus named OVC Pitcher of Week

Craig Kraus was named Ohio Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week, according to a release issued by the league office this afternoon.

Kraus was the first conference pitcher to beat Morehead State this season, going the distance in the first game of the three-game series on Saturday. The senior right-hander from Louisville, Ky., allowed two runs on five hits, striking out eight and walking two in nine innings, throwing 125 pitches, 76 for strikes. Morehead State batters hit .161 against him.

Kraus is 6-1 overall, and has a 2.67 earned-run average. In nine starts this season, he has allowed 19 earned run on 62 hits, striking out 52 and walking 11 in 64 innings pitched, with opponents hitting .247 against him.

In conference play, he is 2-0 with a 3.26 earned-run average. In four OVC starts, he has allowed 11 earned run on 28 hits, striking out 30 and walking six in 30-1/3 innings, with opponents hitting .237 against him.

Murray State visits Evansville on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
