Murray State defensive back Laroni Gallishaw followed teammates Jimmy St. Louis and Marcus White Monday by realizing his dream to play in the National Football League when he signed a free agent contract with the Minnesota Vikings.
"This is a dream come true for me, I've worked hard all my football life to get this chance." Gallishaw said.
Gallishaw played corner back for the Racers and ended his career with 73 tackles and four interceptions. He has an unusual blend of size and speed not often found in defensive backs. He was a big reason why the Racers were ranked 17th in all of 1-AA football against the run, only giving up 113 yards per game. Gallishaw was also named to the Ohio Valley Conference second team in his junior and senior seasons.
Gallishaw reports to mini-camp in Minneapolis Thursday where he'll where he'll don the color purple of the Vikings. "I'll tell you right now, purple all of a sudden is my favorite color!" Gallishaw joked.
This brings the total number of Murray State players getting a chance to make an NFL roster this summer and fall to three. Sunday Jimmy St. Louis and Marcus White signed free agent contracts with the Tennessee Titans.
