Racers place third at OVC Champs; Shirley, Frazier earn league honors

The Murray State men's golf team finished in third place at the Ohio Valley Conference Championship Tournament, just two shots behind second-place Austin Peay and six shots behind champion Samford.
The three-day, three-round tournament was held at the par-72, 7,001-yard Burningtree Golf Course in Decatur, Ala.
Jamie Frazier placed second in the 55-golfer tournament with a two-under-par 214, just one shot behind titlist Bradley Farmer of Samford.
Frazier earned All-OVC Championship Tournament Team honors, while Kyle Shirley was named to the All-OVC First Team.
Murray State finished with a three-round score of 879, behind Samford's 873 and Austin Peay's 877. Jacksonville State was fourth at 881, while Tennessee Tech was fifth at 884, followed by Morehead State at 887, Tennessee-Martin at 894, Eastern Kentucky at 898, Southeast Missouri State at 900, Tennessee State at 906 and Eastern Illinois at 929.
Individually, Shirley tied for eighth with a 219, while Michael Craft and Will Cox tied at 223 and Jerry Price had a 232.
