Orazine named Golfer of the Year; Koch also named to All-OVC

The Murray State women's golf team fired a co-tournament-best 310 this afternoon in the final round of the Ohio Valley Conference Championship Tournament, bringing the Lady Racers up to fourth place after opening the tournament in sixth place.
The three-day, three-round tournament was played at the par-72, 5,868-yard Decatur (Ala.) Country Club.
Senior Nikki Orazine earned her second straight OVC Golfer of the Year honor, the fourth Murray State golfer to win the award in as many years. Orazine was 686-72-20 (.895) against her competition this season.
Orazine and senior Santie Koch were both named to the All-OVC First Team, while Orazine was named to the All-OVC Championship Tournament Team. Koch was 689-71-18 (.897) against her opposition this season. She and Orazine were the top two golfers in the OVC all season, as Orazine finished the season with a 76.8 per-round average and Koch finished with a 77.5 per-round average.
Orazine placed third in the tournament with a three-round score of 233, just two shots behind titlist Brittainy Kelin of Eastern Kentucky and one shot behind second-place Kelli Warner of EKU.
Murray State finished fourth with a three-round score of 978. Jacksonville State won the championship with a score of 956, followed by Eastern Kentucky at 958, Tennessee Tech at 961, Murray State at 978, Eastern Illinois at 979, Austin Peay at 1015, Samford at 1024 and Tennessee State at 1141.
Individually, Santie Koch finished with a 244, while April Steenbergen had a 249, Ilka Loubser had a 252 and Christi Baron had a 258.
