Racers compete with Louisville at Derby Festival Regatta

The Murray State women's rowing team battled with host Louisville for the Kentucky State Championship at the Derby Festival Regatta this afternoon, but the Cardinals came away with four race wins over the Racers to win the state title.

A crowd of about 1,000 people was on hand to observe the state championship regatta.

The teams had two races each in the varsity eights and the novice eights.

In the varsity eights, Louisville won the first race by 11 seconds and the second race by 12 seconds. In the novice eights, Murray State lost the first race by seven seconds and the second race by 7.5 seconds.

Murray State will next compete on May 13-14 at the Dad Vail Regatta in Philadelphia, Pa.
