Racers miss finals by 3.1 seconds

Yesterday, the crew qualified for the semifinals after winning its six-crew heat with a time of 7 minutes, 42 seconds, just 0.8 seconds ahead of second-place Kansas. Emory, the third team to qualify for the semifinals, finished 21.4 seconds behind MSU.
In today's semifinal heat, MSU finished with a time of 8:32.38, just 3.1 seconds behind second-place Long Beach State and 5.93 seconds behind first-place North Park. North Park placed second in the finals, 7.06 seconds behind champion Bowdoin. Long beach State finished fourth, while Kansas was fifth in the finals.
In the women's novice eights yesterday, Murray State finished in fifth in the quarterfinal heat with a time of 8:13.52, just 0.36 seconds behind fourth-place Grand Valley State.
The next scheduled event is the NCAA Central Region Sprints, held May 20-21 at Oak Ridge, Tenn.
