Thoroughbreds earn All-OVC honors

Three Murray State Thoroughbreds earned All-Ohio Valley Conference honors, presented tonight at the banquet preceding the O'Reilly's OVC Baseball Tournament.
Junior designated hitter Chaz Ebert was named to the All-OVC First Team, the first 'Bred to make the first team since 2002 and just the sixth MSU player to make the team since 1996. The post-season honors were first divided into first and second teams in 2003.
Ebert led the 'Breds with a .350 batting average and had a .441 on-base percentage. He popped 12 doubles and had four home runs with a team-leading 51 runs scored and 29 runs batted in.
Senior third baseman Alex Stewart was named to the All-OVC Second Team. He had a .323 batting average and a .475 slugging percentage, slamming a team-high 16 doubles to go with a triple and four home runs. He drove in a team-high 42 RBIs and scored 38 runs. He also led MSU with seven stolen bases.
Senior starting pitcher Craig Kraus was also named to the All-OVC Second Team. Kraus led MSU with eight wins with an 8-2 record thus far. He had a 3.61 earned-run average and had 73 strikeouts to 17 walks, a 4.29 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Kraus allowed only 36 earned runs on 89-2/3 innings of work this season.

Murray State opens the O'Reilly's OVC Baseball Tournament tomorrow (Wednesday) at 2:30 p.m. against Southeast Missouri State at Brooks Stadium in Paducah, Ky.
