'Breds to unveil new scoreboard

(May 5, 2005) -- Murray State baseball will introduce a new scoreboard Saturday at 1 p.m. when it hosts Austin Peay in the first of a three-game Ohio Valley Conference series. The scoreboard for the 'Breds' Reagan Field was donated by Pepsi Mid-America of Marion, Ill.
"The scoreboard is a beautiful addition to our facility," MSU head coach Rob McDonald said. "It is the first of many enhancements and renovations that Reagan Field is going to see over the next several months."
The new scoreboard replaces the field's original scoreboard, which opened the field in 1988 and was also donated by Pepsi Mid-America.
The new scoreboard is wireless and uses LED (light emitting diode) characters, making it easier to see than the old one, which used light bulbs. It also has many features, including inning-by-inning scoring; total runs, hits and errors; identification of the batter; and ball, strike and out count. It was produced by the S'portable Scoreboards Company of Murray.
In honor of the occasion, Cliff Mitchell of Pepsi Mid-America will throw the ceremonial first pitch at 12:45 p.m. at Reagan Field.
