Skinner third in the high jump at OVC Track Championships

Jonathan Skinner placed third in the high jump in the O'Reilly's Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships, held at Governor Stadium in Clarksville, Tenn. The Championships will conclude tomorrow (Saturday).

Skinner had a leap of 6 feet, 4.8 inches (1.95 meters), tying himself with Jason Stark of Eastern Illinois and Robert Weaver of Samford. Southeast Missouri's Andrew Lambert won the event with a leap of 6 feet, 6.75 inches (2.00 meters).

Chris Champion placed seventh in the javelin throw with a throw of 153 feet, 9.67 inches (46.88 meters) and finished eighth in the shot put with a toss of 45 feet, 9.6 inches (13.96 meters). John Gorey was 10th in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 34 minutes, 18.46 seconds.

The Murray State men's outdoor track team is in seventh place with eight points after the first day of competition, just one point behind Eastern Kentucky.
