Murray State men's golfer Jamie Frazier is looking to carrying over the momentum he had from last season, and by the looks of things, he may be even better in the coming season.
Frazier, who will be a senior this season, finished second overall in last season's Ohio Valley Conference Championship Tournament, just one shot behind the leader in the field of 55. For his efforts, Frazier received All-OVC Championship Tournament Team honors. This summer, the Glasgow, Ky., native has played in four major tournaments, along with several other smaller tournaments.
Frazier competed in the Kentucky State Amateur Tournament (14th-place finish); the Southern Amateur in Myrtle Beach, S.C.; the Kentucky Open (fifth-place finish in amateur division, 15th overall); and a tournament in Waterloo, Iowa, where he accomplished the greatest single feat in golf competition. Frazier shot a hole-in-one on a 367-yard, par-4 hole, helping him build another strong showing, a fourth-place finish.
"I've just finished the Kentucky Open tournament," Frazier said. "It was beneficial because with my good showing there, now I don't have to qualify again for next year. I've been working really hard, and I am really looking forward to the school season. I think we will be really good."
Frazier is not scheduled to play in any more tournaments before the school season begins. The Racers tee off the 2005-06 season on Sept. 19-20 at the Buffalo Rock Invitational, hosted by Birmingham-Southern at the Bent Brook Golf Course in Birmingham, Ala.
