Racers have final practice before kicking off the season

The Murray State Racers held their final practice today before leaving for Starkville, Miss., tomorrow to face the Mississippi State Bulldogs of the Southeastern Conference.
"Today was mostly all game conditions," Racer head coach Joe Pannunzio said. "We are going to work on trying to keep it together as we change personnel from defense to special teams to offense back to special teams back to defense, and so on. We also are working on tying up our loose ends on special teams and make sure we have everything under control there."
Saturday's meeting with the Bulldogs is only the second meeting between the two teams, with Mississippi State prevailing in the only other meeting in 1946, 69-0.
CAMP NOTES: The Racers seemed to have a little extra enthusiasm today in practice, perhaps because they were looking forward to the season opener. Several Racers seemed to have a smile glued to their faces, but the Racers also seemed very focused and took a business-like approach towards every final drill before the season-opener.
Ricky Cunningham of Hardin Baptist Church will speak to the team tonight before they pack their bags for Starkville at 8 a.m. tomorrow.
INJURY REPORT: There were no major injuries to report today from the practice field, as the Racers seem to be fully healthy heading into Saturday.
