Murray State fans urged to contact Mississippi hotels

Murray State fans who currently hold hotel reservations in the Golden Triangle area for this weekend's Mississippi State-Murray State football season opener are encouraged to contact their respective hotels to inquire about the hotel's need for additional rooms for displaced victims of Hurricane Katrina.
Many hotels in and around Starkville are currently housing evacuees. In particular, fans who have reservations, but are not planning to attend the game, are encouraged to call and cancel those reservations to aid the victims.
Mississippi State University has asked all hotels not to displace any evacuees. In addition to providing complimentary tickets to evacuees, the Mississippi State athletic department will collect monetary donations at all entrances to Davis Wade Stadium at Saturday's game.
Local hotels are asking to check ahead. Perhaps fans from both teams coming into town can make it a one-day trip instead of an overnight trip and give their room to someone who has been affected by the hurricane, if it is needed.
