The Louisville "B" boat placed second in the varsity fours. MSU finished the 3.1-mile race in 21:26.34, ahead of four other boats including squads from Miami (Ohio) University and Xavier University.
"We're very excited to medal in this event," said Murray State Head Coach Bill McLean. "We really closed the gap on Louisville today as well.
Kroner, a Batavia, Ohio, native, finished the 3.1 mile event in a time of 24:57.06, 17 seconds ahead of the second place rower.
The MSU varsity four crew included senior Sarah Bullock in the four-seat, junior team captain Tracy Bogard in the three-seat, senior Rachel Hopper in the two seat, Kroner in the one-seat and senior Lindsey Flowers as the squad's coxswain.
"We ran a very strong race, we were consistent today, we kept our heads in the boat and worked well together," said Bogard. "There are certain things we need to tweak but we're looking good for the Head of the Chattahoochee.
Next up for the Racer rowing team is a trip to Chattanooga, Tenn., to participate in the Head of the Chattahoochee on Nov. 5.
