Racers finish sixth at Sea Trail

The Murray State men's golf team finished sixth in the 21-team Sea Trail Intercollegiate Tournament, held at the par-72, 6,761-yard Sea Trail Golf Course in Sunset Beach, N.C.
Tournament host Elon shot a mind-numbing 13-under-par 275 in the final round today to push ahead into first place to take team titlist honors.
The Racers were in fourth place after two rounds yesterday and six shots behind first place, but shot a final-round 297 this afternoon, finishing with a 291-288-297 = 876, just two shots behind fourth-place Radford and Wofford.
Will Cox, who was tied for first in the 104-golfer event, finished tied for 10th place with a 71-69-74 = 214. Kyle Shirley, who was tied for third after yesterday's rounds, finished tied for 15th with a 69-72-75 = 216.
Michael Craft tied for 31st with a 76-74-71 = 221, while Jamie Frazier tied for 57th with a 75-74-77 = 226 and Nicholas Griffin tied for 77th with an 81-73-79 = 233.
Murray State will next compete at home when the Racers host the MSU Invitational on Oct. 3-4 at the Miller Memorial Golf Course.
