Murray State University's women's rowing team posted a third place finish at Saturday's Head of the Tennessee event in Knoxville, Tenn. The Racers' novice-four finished third and the team's two novice-eight shells posted fourth and fifth place finishes. The Racers beat squads from Virginia Tech, Clemson, Vanderbilt, Auburn and Tennessee.
The novice-four crew finished in a time of 24:19.98, 43.82 seconds behind first place Georgia State and over two minutes in front of fourth place Virginia Tech.
In the novice-eight race, Murray State's A shell posted a time of 19:14.67 to finish fourth, 1:23.18 behind first place Tennessee-Chattanooga. The MSU B shell crossed 14.33 seconds behind the A shell to earn a fifth place finish.
Murray State also had two teams racing in the varsity-eight event. Tennessee claimed the first four spots and the University of Dayton took the fifth and sixth places but one MSU varsity-eight crossed in seventh place, ahead of Vanderbilt and Clemson. The second varsity-eight finished 11th.
Next up for the Murray State rowing team is the Head of the Chattahoochee on Saturday (Nov. 4) in Chattanooga, Tenn.
