The Murray State Golf teams both posted eye opening first days at their final fall tournament appearances which are being played in
The MSU men's team leads the Buffalo Rock Southern Showdown after 36 holes with rounds of 278-280=558 at Bent Brook GC in
The Racers low scorer in the first two rounds was Jerry Price (69-66=135) who is in second place. Nick Griffin scored rounds of (68-72=140) and stands in 12th. Joe Landrum is in 19th position after rounds of (69-73=142) while Michael Craft (72-72=144) and Mitchell Moore (74-70=144) are tied for 30th.
The Tournament concludes today with 18 holes. The Bent Brook course is playing to a par of 71 and 7,075 yards. The Racers are first among 17 teams; there is a field of 91 players.
The MSU women's team is in fourth place after a first round 302 in
Andrea Downer fired a first round 73 and is in tie for third place. Lauren Hughes and Bethany Yates are in 13th after a pair of 75's, while Meagan McKinney's 79 lands her in 39th place. Christ Baron's 80 is good for a spot in 46th place.
The event is being played at Arrowhead CC to a par of 72 and 5,888 yards. The Racers are fourth among 15 teams; there is a field of 75 players.
