In the last two games of 2006, the Racers split a pair of home games when they pulled out a 72-71 overtime win over
· MSU's 15 game home win streak was stopped; it was the 11th longest in the nation.
· MSU's 14 game OVC home regular season win streak was also stopped with the loss.
· Shawn Witherspoon's string of 43 consecutive starts was stopped when he missed the game because of soreness in his surgically repaired foot.
· The Racers ended a streak of 581 consecutive games with at least one made three-pointer when they went 0-7.
MSU Head Coach Billy Kennedy says when the 2007 portion of the schedule begins, he will settle on what he feels is the group of Racers that best give the team a chance to win. In the first 13 games of the season, Kennedy has used 10 different starting lineups.
The month of January will go a long way in determining the Racers fate for this season. Will they be able to challenge for the title? If not, can they get into the top-four in the OVC and get a home game for the OVC Tournament quarterfinals? These questions and more will be answered in the Racers pair of home games and the 1,800-plus miles they will travel in the month.
