Special features include the ability to watch coach's shows on the web, live stats for selected home games, email alerts, rotating top stories, scrolling scoreboard, in depth student-athlete biographies, photo galleries and polls.
"We're very excited about the new GoRacers.com website," MSU Director of Athletics Allen Ward said. "This will allow us to better promote our entire program and fans will surely enjoy the new features that will be available on Thursday, with even more coming in the future."
MSU is working with XOS Technologies on the new website. XOS has built websites for schools such as Oklahoma State, Nebraska, San Jose State and Duke.
The rotating stories are one of the first feature many visitors to GoRacers.com will notice. Four different Racer articles will rotate through the 'Top Stories' section on the front page. The old website was limited to only one 'top story'.
Fans have the ability to vote on the site's polls. The inaugural poll question is: Who is Murray State's biggest rival?, with Austin Peay, Eastern Kentucky, Southeast Missouri, Southern Illinois and Western Kentucky as the choices for voters.
Many of the pages have a scrolling Racer scoreboard at the top and a schedule of upcoming events on the right side to keep the Racer Nation up to date.
Each sport's homepage includes a photo gallery to go along with schedules, rosters and links to that sport's coaches. When fans click on a sport's roster, they can click on a player's name to see that player's biography and photo.
One of the most exciting features is the ability to watch Murray State coaches' shows. Fans can watch "Murray State Basketball with Mick Cronin" now and in the fall will be able to see "Murray State Football with Matt Griffin." To access the shows, click on 'Racer Radio & TV' on the left side of the website and then follow the "Click Here To Watch Archived Racer Coaches' Shows" link at the bottom of the page.
Fans can sign up for email alerts from Murray State athletics. Each fan can tailor his or her email alerts to the Racer sports that they are interested in, or receive email news on all the MSU teams. To sign up for email alerts, simply click on the link at the bottom of the left column and follow the directions on the screen.
Racer fans will continue to be able to listen to live broadcast of Murray State men's and women's basketball, football and baseball games. A link to those broadcasts will be located on the lower right side of the main page.
The live stats feature will be available for all home men's and women's basketball games and home football and baseball games when the press boxes at those facilities are fitted with internet access in the future.
"I'm very pleased with the work that our athletics media relations office has put into the website," said Ward. "Those gentlemen have worked very hard to ensure that we have a product that everyone will enjoy."
"We're very excited to let Racer fans in on what we've been working on for almost a year," said Dave Winder, MSU assistant athletics director for media relations. "A lot of the credit goes to (MSU sports information assistant) Kevin Britton, he was our lead person from the start and was our lead contact in working with XOS."
"GoRacers.com will continue to be the window to Murray State athletics, now it's bigger and better."
