Lady Racers In 8th Place After Two Rounds At El Diablo

The Murray State women's golf team was in third place after the first 18 holes played this afternoon in the Lady Herd/El Diablo Intercollegiate, but fell to eighth place in the 14-team tournament after the second round, just four shots behind sixth-place Eastern Kentucky.
The tournament is being held on the par-72, 5,942-yard El Diablo Golf and Country Club course in Citrus Springs, Fla. The final round will be played tomorrow (Tuesday).
The Lady Racers shot a first-round 317, just 12 strokes behind then-leader Florida Atlantic, but had a second-round score of 331 give them an overall two-round score of 648, 13 shots behind fourth-place North Texas and 42 strokes behind current leader Maryland.
MSU is led by Christi Baron, who has a 78-80 = 158 after two rounds, tied for 16th in the 79-golfer tournament and 10 shots behind individual leader June Bolme of Florida Atlantic. Ilka Loubser and Lauren Hughes are both tied for 33rd with even scores of 164, while Julie Bennett is tied for 48th at 168 and Ashley Kelbough is tied for 56th at 170.
