MSU Finishes 5th At Saluki Invitational

Bolstered by Chrisi Baron's final round 77, the Murray State women's golf squad came away with a 5th place finish Tuesday at the Saluki Invitational played at the Hickory Ridge golf course in Carbondale, Ill. In one of the best fields they have faced this season, the Racers played competitvely for two days and finished with a total of 640 which was 26 strokes behind winner Bradley with a total of 614. Eastern Kentucky finished with a 624 for second place and SIU finished in fourth with a 628.
Christi Baron fired rounds of 78-77 and finished at 155 and in a tie for seventh. Julie Bennett shot an 81 to with her firs day 80 for a total of 161 and a tie for 20th place. Ashley Kelbough finished 25th after rounds of 80-82=162, while Ilka Loubser fell off a bit from her first round 79 with an 84 in day two for a 163 and a tie for 27th. Lauren Hughes finished in 35th place with a pair of 83's. Bethany Yates, played as an individual and had a 90 to go along with her first round 82 and finished 51st.
Eastern Michigan finished in 6th place with a total of 645, with Northern Iowa (647), Austin Peay (661), Western Illinois (671) and Evansville rounding out the top 10 with a 674.
The Racers return to action April 6 & 7 at the EKU Invitational.
