Racer senior tailback Chad Cook is enjoying playing football this spring and looks forward to a great senior season. However, as he plays, it's with a heavy heart because thoughts of home are never far away.
Cook's family escaped the storm to
"It's something that will always stay with me," Cook said. "It's hard to believe that my home there is gone forever, but thankfully all of my family made it out."
Cook, advertising major, led the Racers in rushing last season with 635 yards in nine games. A late ankle sprain is all that derailed him from having the Racers first 1,000 yard season since Billy Blanchard in 2002. Cook has 1,608 yards in his three-year Racer career, he needs 188 yards to break into the MSU all-time top-10.
Cook is also one touchdown from breaking into the MSU top-10, and with a good season could possibly catch MSU's all-time TD maker, Willie Cannon who has 28.
Cook already has a top-ten all-time single game rushing performance, when his 213-yard performance against
MSU NOTES: The Racers practiced in full pads today in mid-80's degree heat. The team also ran about 60 scrimmage plays. The offense has improved over the last few practices.
The Racers will take the Easter weekend off, and resume practice on Tuesday, April 18 at
