Murray State Places Third at OVC Women's Golf Championship

In the end, the Murray State Lady Racers played three intense days of golf and finished third at the O'Reilly Ohio Valley Conference Women's Championship at Drake Creek Golf Club in
Christi Baron fired a final round 78 and finished fifth and earned all-tournament honors. Ilka Loubser finished seventh after a final round 76. Julie Bennett came home with an 88 and finished 21st in the 40 player field. Lauren Hughes had three straight 82's and finished in 25th place. Ashley Kelbough had an 82 in the final round and finished 33rd.
Jacksonville rode a record round of 300 Tuesday and followed it with a 305 today for a three-day total of 915 and a five shot win over Eastern Kentucky who gained one shot on the day but finished with a total of 920.
MSU head coach Velvet Milkman was pleased with the effort she saw over three rounds.
“I can't be any prouder than I am of this group, not only the players in the league championship, but of all the girls in our program,” Milkman said. “Our seniors have performed from the first day they arrived and they will continue to have an influence on our program even after they graduate and move into the next stage of their lives.”
