Murray State's Nick Griffin played two good rounds of golf and one great one to post a fifth place finish Thursday at the 2006 BellSouth Kentucky State Amateur hosted by the Cardinal Club in Simpsonville, Ky. Griffin's two-under par 69 was the best round of any player in the third and final round. Griffin added his 69 to his first round score of 74 and his second round total of 73 for a 54-hole total of 216. He was four shots behind champion Casey Combs who shot rounds of 70-68-74 to defeat Bradley Ruch by one shot.
