Racers Shed Pads For Sunday Practice, Continue Work On Special Teams

Murray State University's football team focused primarily on special teams in Sunday's practice. The Racers went to work without pads and concentrated on long snapping, punting, kickoff returns, blocking punts, point-after attempts and field goals during a practice that lasted less than an hour and a half.

In addition to special teams work, the offense and defensive units worked on alignments versus various formations.

Near the end of practice, while the defense participated in position work, the offense worked on executing plays during the hurry-up-offense.

The Racers will practice again on Monday at 3:35 p.m.

Murray State opens its 82nd season of college football on Sept. 2 when the team travels to Columbia, Mo., to face the University of Missouri at 6 p.m. The Racers first home game of the Matt Griffin era will be on Sept. 23 when the team faces Illinois State at 6 p.m., at Stewart Stadium.
