Racer Women's Golf Opens Season In Virginia

The Murray State Women's Golf team opened the 2006-07 season this week in the mountains of Virginia at the Draper Valley Invitational hosted by Radford University.
The 54-hole event is being played at the Draper Valley Country Club at par-72 and 5,910 yards.
MSU Senior Christi Baron fired rounds of 76-75=151 and stands in 27th place in the field of 92 competitors.
Sophomore Bethany Yates is in 44th position after rounds of 80-76=156. Freshman Andrea Downer had rounds of 80-78=158 and sits in 50th, while senior Lauren Hughes is (83-77=160) and.freshman Megan McKinney (79-81=160) are tied for 58th place.
As a team the Racers turned in a score of 315 in the morning round and 306 in the afternoon for a total score of 621 and a spot in 12th place out of the field of 18 teams.
East Tennessee State is the leader at 585, followed by Western Carolina (589), Elon (590), Winthrop (593) and Gardner-Webb (598).
The Racers are eight strokes ahead of fellow Ohio Valley Conference member Tennessee Tech.
