Racer Soccer Battles Indiana State In Home Opener

With a team full of highly competitive women, the
MSU Soccer came close again but suffered a tough to take 2-0 loss Sunday in their 2006 home opener at Cutchin Field. The Racers fall to 0-3 on the season and again look back at a game in which they had chances to score, but the ball would not bounce their way.
“We're going to keep fighting, I can tell you that.” MSU Head Coach Beth Acreman said. “It's very hard on all of us, but if we keep fighting, things are going to turn around for us.”
The Racers played the Sycamores to a scoreless game until 28:00 when a ball was loose in front of the MSU goal and ISU forward Lauren Podolski redirected a pass from Sarah Whitney for the first goal of the game.
The game stayed that way until 84:42 when ISU added another goal for a 2-0 lead.
Moments before, the Racers nearly tied the game when MSU reserve Lacey Latimer just missed a shot that was inches wide of the right post.
In all, the Racers out shot
MSU's Melisa Curry put all four of her shots on goal, Latimer took three shots and all three were on the mark.
In goal, Heather Jones came up with six saves on the day.
