Scott Named OVC Co-Player Of The Week

Senior forward Joi Scott was named Ohio Valley Conference Co-Player of the Week for games played Jan. 15-21. The honor is the third such honor for the Reynoldsburg, Ohio, native this season.
Scott earned the honor by averaging a league-high 22.5 points per game to go with 8.5 rebounds per game. She shot 51.7 percent (15-for-29) from the field in both of her games last week, and made 75 percent (15-for-20) of her free-throw attempts. She also averaged 3.0 steals and 2.0 blocked shots per contest.
Against Tennessee-Martin on Saturday, Scott had game-highs with 26 points, eight rebounds and four steals. She was 9-for-15 (60 percent) from the field and 8-for-9 (88.9 percent) from the line. Six of her eight rebounds were on the defensive end.
Against Southwestern Athletic Conference leader Alabama A&M on Jan. 15, she posted game-highs with 19 points, nine rebounds and four blocked shots. She was 6-for-14 (42.9 percent) from the field and 7-for-11 (63.6 percent) from the line, and six of her nine rebounds were on the defensive end.
Scott shared the honor with Sonya Daugherty of Southeast Missouri State. Daugherty averaged 21.5 points and 2.0 rebounds per game this week against Tennessee State and Tennessee Tech, shooting .581 (18-for-31) from the field and going 6-for-6 from the line. She also averaged 3.5 assists and 3.0 steals per game last week.
Murray State begins one of its most important road swings of all time this week, as the Lady Racers (12-4, 8-1 OVC) visit Tennessee Tech (5-14, 4-6 OVC) on Thursday at 7 p.m., then go to Southeast Missouri State (13-5, 8-2 OVC) on Saturday at 5 p.m. MSU then travels to pre-season OVC favorite Samford (10-9, 5-5 OVC) on Monday at 5 p.m. Those games can be heard locally on WNBS (1340 AM, Murray) or worldwide through the audio link at www.GoRacers.com.
