The Murray State women's rowing team opened it's fall season in impressive fashion on Saturday as all four boats took home medals at the Hobbs Island Regatta in Huntsville, Ala.
"It was a great day for us," said head coach Bill McLean. "It was phenomenal to come out after two months of tough training and put together a day like today. Everybody came away with a medal and it sets up well heading into next week."
The varsity eight had the most impressive showing as they knocked off Alabama by 35 seconds to capture the championship. The Racers turned in a time of 18:42.
In the novice eight, MSU outlasted the Crimson Tide, but a 20 second penalty dropped the Racers back into second place.
In the varsity four race, MSU was able to beat UT Chattanooga, but finished in second place behind the Crimson Tide. The novice four boat won their race by 45 seconds over their nearest competitor.
The rowing team will be back on the water on Nov. 3 when they travel to Chattanooga, Tenn. for the Head of the Chattahoochee.
