The Murray State women's golf team turned in a third place finish in a field of 14 teams at the Lady Indian Classic played in Jonesboro, Ark.

The Racers fired rounds of 309-316=625 and finished third behind the 603 of Central Arkansas and the 620 of second place Eastern Kentucky.

McLennan CC finished fourth (630), Jackson State (633) finished fifth and McNeese State (635), Texas A&M Corpus Christi (636), Austin Peay (637), Drake (637), and UAB (637) rounded out the top 10.

Andrea Downer and Alexandra Hintereger tied for 11^th place in the field of 84 competitors for low score honors for the Racers. Downer and Hintereger each fired rounds of 77-77=154.

Megan McKinney placed 18^th with scores of 77-78=155, while Caroline Lagerborg's scores of 78-84=162 earned a 45^th place showing. Bethany Yates finished 57^th with rounds of 78-88=166.

The ASU tournament was played at Jonesboro Country Club at 5,926 yards and a par of 71.

The 54-hole event was reduced to 36 holes after rain forced the second round to be cancelled on Monday.

The Individual medalist was Maggie Welch of McNeese State with rounds of 74-73=147.

The Racers next tournament is Oct. 22 at the Austin Peay Invitational.
