DeMage Named To All-OVC Second Team

Senior middle hitter Tara DeMage was named to the All-Ohio Valley Conference Second Team. Balloting was done by the league's coaches and sports information contacts.
DeMage finished the regular season averaging 3.33 kills per game with an attack percentage of .282. She also averaged 3.61 digs, 0.64 blocks, 0.41 aces and 4.18 points per game. She ranked fifth in the OVC in aces and ninth in the conference in attack percentage and points per game.
In OVC play, DeMage averaged 3.58 kills per game with an attack percentage of .293. She also averaged 3.99 digs, 0.71 blocks, 0.45 aces and 4,47 points per game against league opponents.
Others who finished among the top 10 in OVC statistics include sophomore setter Cassie Chesney, who led the OVC with 13.22 assists per game, and junior libero Heather Norris, who was third in the OVC with 5.93 digs per game and eighth with 0.37 aces per game. In conference play only, Chesney still led the OVC with 14.11 assists per game, while Norris ranked third with 6.27 digs per game.
Also named to post-season honors were All-OVC First Team members Abbey Briet, Jacksonville State; Karleigh DeLong, Southeast Missouri; Rebekah Nichols, Jacksonville State; Erin Peak, Morehead State; Brittany Nobilio, Eastern Kentucky, Sheriden Stangohr, Samford; Katelyn Barbour, Morehead State; and All-OVC Second Team members Dodi Szymska, Austin Peay; Ashley Doscher, Morehead State; Leah Meffert, Tennessee Tech; Katie Kenline, Tennessee Tech; Endia Oliver, Tennessee State; and Kelly Davis, Tennessee State. The OVC All-Newcomer Team consisted of Meffert; Aubrey Dondlinger, Southeast Missouri; Alex Zwettler, Eastern Illinois; Kaitlin Craven, Morehead State; Christian Lowe, Tennessee State; Brooke Schumacher, Jacksonville State; and Hillary Fountain, Samford.
Breit was named OVC Player of the Year, while Nobilio was named OVC Defensive Player of the Year. Meffert was named OVC Freshman of the year, while SEMO's Renata Nowaki was named OVC Coach of the Year.
OVC CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT
No. 5 seed Murray State (16-14) will take on fourth-seed Tennessee State (17-13) Thursday at 7 p.m. at Jacksonville State's Pete Mathews Arena. The tournament will begin at 4:30 p.m., with No. 3 seed Southeast Missouri (20-11) playing No. 6 Tennessee Tech (17-14). On Friday at 7 p.m., the winner between MSU and Tennessee State will lay top seed and tournament host Jacksonville State (18-9), while the SEMO/Tech winner will play No. 2 seed Morehead State (21-11) on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
