The Murray State Racers play their final road contest of the season as they travel to Martin, Tenn. to take on UT Martin on Saturday, Nov. 10. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. at Graham Stadium (7,500).
The Racers lead the all-time series 34-11-1, but have lost the last two meetings. The Racers had won the previous 12 contests between the two schools.
The Racers are coming off a game in which they gave up an offensive, defensive and special teams touchdown over a 3:46 stretch in the first quarter in falling to Tennessee State 42-28 at LP Field.
MSU did not just roll over as redshirt freshman quarterback Jeff Ehrhardt led the Racers on four scoring drives. He capped off the Racers only scoring drive in the first half with a 31-yard hook-up with Rod Harper.
Ehrhardt went to the ground for the Racers second score as he dove over two defenders at the goaline on a five-yard run. Derrick Townsel went around right end for nine yards and the third touchdown before Ehrhardt closed out the scoring with an 11-yard strike to Marcus Harris.
The offensive attack was led in the air and on the ground by Ehrhardt who went 36-for-46 for 330 yards and two touchdowns, while also gaining 104 yards and a touchdown on 30 carries. He became the fifth player in the FCS this season to pass for over 300 yards and rush for over 100 yards. His 36 completions also set a new single-game MSU record.
Ehrhardt was not the only offensive bright spot against TSU as Townsel rushed for 52 yards and a score, and also caught five passes for 55 yards. Harris finished the game with four catches for 49 yards and his second-straight game with a touchdown reception.
The Skyhawks have had two weeks to prepare for the Racers after having their bye week. UTM is 2-7 on the season and 2-4 in OVC action, but are coming off victories in two of their last three contests. Both of those victories have come at home against Samford and Southeast Missouri.
The Skyhawk offense is paced by running back Don Chapman who has rushed for 818 yards and five touchdowns on 171 carries. Chapman has enjoyed success in his career against the Racers as he has rushed for 539 yards and seven touchdowns in his three previous games. He has gone over 200 yards in each of the last two meetings.
Dexter Anoka will get the start at quarterback for the Skyhawks. Anoka did not play in their last game and is 106-for-183 for 1,340 yards and eight touchdowns on the season.
The Racers close out the 2007 season on Nov. 17 when they host Austin Peay. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. at Stewart Stadium.
