The Racers enjoyed a first half in which they were the aggressors, with six shots to two for EIU, but no goals were scored well into the second half.
MSU scored the first goal of the match in the 72nd minute when Rebekah Clay sent a low shot from the right side about 20 yards out to the left corner where Lacey Latimer timed her leap perfectly diving head long to put the ball to the back of the net for a 1-0 Racer lead. It was Latimer's third goal of the season.
The game eventually went into a 10-minute overtime period where the Racers had two chances to score early, but couldn't stop a corner kick by EIU's Alexis Miller in the 96th minute. Miller was able to bend her kick into the MSU goal for the game winner.
Tara Isbell took the tough luck loss in goal. She faced nine shots from EIU and made one save.
Even with a sad end to the 2007 season, the Racers can hold their heads high after going 11-8 and 6-3 in league play, both win totals are MSU records.
