MSU Soccer Begins Signing Period With Class Of Eight

Murray State Soccer Head Coach Beth Acreman announced the signing of eight student-athletes that make up her recruiting class of 2007. In the class the Racers get some outstanding offensive and defensive players and goal keepers.
“I am very excited about our 2007 signing class,” Acreman said. “This group will add depth to our team and will make us more dangerous next season. We have added players in every position to make our program more competitive.”

Laken Dirkes, MF/FW, Dirkes was a

Katrina “Kat” Goscha, GK, Goscha was named All-Eastern Kansas League 2nd team and Kansas All-State 2nd Team in 2006. She led her team to a state second place finish in 2006 and was named team captain and a member of the 2004 ODP Region Team. Goscha was the captain for the Youth World Cup quarterfinalist team from 2005-07. She was twice awarded as a Gatorade Will-to-Win Athlete. Club teams - Blue Valley Stars United and State Team of Kansas.

Tara Isbell, GK, Mayfield HS, Isbell is a transfer from the

Kalli McCoy, MF/F, McCoy was a four-year letterman at MCHS and teammate of MSU signee Laken Dirkes. As a sophomore she earned Kentucky First Team Region-I and Kentucky All-State Honorable Mention honors. As a senior she was Second Team Region-I and team captain. McCoy was named team offensive MVP. Rebecca Schultz, D/MF/F,
Schultz was named Fort Campbell MVP four straight seasons from 2002-06 and was named team captain the last three seasons. Named All-District and Kentucky Region-II First Team three times from 2003-06 and member of the Kentucky ODP. Led her team in goals and assists from 2003-06. Schultz also earned Kentucky All-State honors in track and cross country and was named to the list of Kentucky Runners of the Year in 2006. She is a member of the National Honor Society. Club team ? Katie Wilson, M/MF,

Tessa Williams, GK, Centennial HS,
Williams earned Tennessee All-State honors in 2006 and was team captain from 2002-06. She was named to the Tennessee All-Region and All-District teams as a senior. She earned defensive MVP honors as a senior and led her team to a Tennessee State Soccer Championship second place finish in 2005. Club team ? Adidas Brentwood United 89'.
Beth Acreman adds this group of newcomers to 15 returning lettermen for the 2007 season.
“Each of our new players have come from competitive High School and Club programs,” The second year MSU coach said. “We have recruited players that fit our style of play and academic standards and each brings something unique to our team.”
With the spring training season coming up, Acreman said she has been pleased with off-season workouts.
“I have been very impressed with the hard work our team has put forth so far this spring,” Acreman said. “That means we'll have a great foundation for when our new players arrive in the fall.”
