Lady Racer Golf Tied for Second at Tampa Event

MSU's first round 325 was impressive considering the eight team field had to battle windy and dry conditions that made for a challenge when players tried to keep the ball in the fairway and on the green.
The Lady Racers 325 tied them with
MSU's Andrea Downer led the way with a four-over 76, good for a spot in 2nd place behind Lisa Bailey of UNI who carded a three-over 75. Downer will be trying for her first collegiate win and MSU's first since Santie Koch won the Saluki Invitational in 2005.
Bethany Yates and Christi Baron helped MSU's cause with a pair of 82's and are tied for 16th place in the field of 51 competitors. Megan McKinney fired an 86 and stands in 28th position, while Lauren Hughes had an 86 for a spot in 31st place.
Caroline Lagerborg played as an individual for MSU and fired an 82 for a spot in 16th with Baron and Yates.
