Murray State Football Spring Report: Practice #2

Murray State's football team held its second spring practice today on the practice field next to Stewart Stadium. After working the first day in helmets and shorts, the Racers added shoulder pads for their second practice.

Rain that fell overnight and throughout the day on Wednesday left the field soggy but the team didn't let it slow them down. After starting practice under mostly cloudy skies the rain returned near the end.

Wednesday's practice saw the offense work on running plays against the defensive line and safeties, running backs working on blocking against linebackers, and quarterbacks and receivers working one-on-one against the secondary.

The Racers also participated in a pass skeleton drill that pitted six offensive players against seven defenders.

MSU finished off its second day on the practice field with the first 11-on-11 play of the spring.

The Racers' third spring practice will be on Friday at 3:45 p.m., on the MSU practice field next to Stewart Stadium.

Murray State will open its 2007 season on Aug. 30 when the team travels to Louisville, Ky., to face the University of Louisville at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium. The game is scheduled to kickoff at 6:30 p.m. CT.
