MSU Golf Records Fourth Victory Of 2006-07 Season

The Murray State Racer Men's Golf scored its fourth win of the 2006-07 campaign when they ran away with the championship of the Tennessee State Intercollegiate Tuesday in Dixon, Tenn. at Greystone GC.

MSU sophomore Mitchell Moore was a winner on the collegiate level for the first time after firing rounds of 70-66-75=211.

Michael Craft finished seventh with scores of 73-71-75=219.

Three Racer players finished tied for 10^th in the field of 56 competitors. Jerry Price carded rounds of 75-71-74=220, while Kyle Landrum had rounds of 69-73-78 and Mark Brant turned in scores of 73-73-74.

The Racers won the tournament after falling behind Eastern Illinois after round one 280 to 285. MSU's sizzling 281 in round two, which included a 66 from Moore, the Racers grabbed the lead and won by 11 shots over Evansville.

EIU finished third at 892, while UT-Martin (898), Morehead State (900), Tennessee Tech (903) and Lipscomb rounded out the top-seven.

MSu's Chris Griffin, Nick Griffin and Jared Wolfe played the event as individuals. Chris Griffin had rounds of 73-80-72=225 to finish 21^st, Nick Griffin was 28^th with rounds of 77-75-78=230 and Wolfe finished 36^th with scores of 73-84-77=234.

The Racers fired rounds of 285 and 281 for a total score of 566 and an 18-shot lead over Evansville (584), UT-Martin (587) and Eastern Illinois (592).

The TSU tournament was the final tune-up before the Ohio Valley Conference Championships. The season ending OVC event happens in Paducah, Ky. at the CC of Paducah. The first round of the 54-hole championship begins April 22.
