The Murray State Thoroughbreds hope to ride their three-game win streak -- including back-to-back wins over No. 39 Memphis -- into this weekend's Ohio Valley Conference showdown against Eastern Kentucky. The three-game series at MSU's Reagan Field opens with a double-header on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. and will close with a Sunday 1 p.m. game.
Fans can hear all of the live action locally through WOFC (1130 AM, Murray) or worldwide through the audio link at www.GoRacers.com. Live Stats will also be available through that Web site.
Murray State (9-21, 4-4 OVC) is just a game behind the Colonels (14-14-1, 5-3 OVC). Both teams were forced to shorten last weekend's league play due to cold weather, with the 'Breds splitting two games with host Eastern Illinois on April 6 and EKU splitting two games with visiting Tennessee-Martin on April 6.
The first game will likely feature junior right-hander Lucas Allen (2-2, 2-0 OVC) against EKU's ace, Christian Friedrich (2-1, 0-0 OVC). The 'Breds gave Friedrich his only league loss last season. Allen got the complete-game win at EIU last weekend, while Friedrich did not pitch against UT Martin.
In the second game, MSU's Mike Perconte (2-5, 1-2 OVC) is scheduled to go up against the Colonels' McKenzie Willoughby (2-3, 1-1 OVC). The Sunday game is scheduled to feature freshman lefty Bryan Baldini (0-0, 0-0 OVC) against Chris Grider (3-3, 1-1 OVC).
