Perconte Named OVC Pitcher Of The Week

Junior Mike Perconte was named the Ohio Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week for the week ending April 29, through balloting done by the league's baseball information contacts.

Perconte threw a complete-game two-hitter against Tennessee Tech in the first game of a double-header on Saturday. After allowing a single in the first inning, Perconte retired 18 of the next 19 batters before allowing his only other hit of the game in the seventh inning. He then retired the last seven batters of the game.

Perconte, a 6-5 right-hander from Lisle, Ill., struck out five and walked one in the game, claiming the Thoroughbreds' first shutout of the season.

Murray State visits Belmont on Wednesday for a 6 p.m. contest.
