Christi Baron Leads Lady Racers At EKU Invitational

The Murray State Lady Racers golf team fired a first round 334 in the first round of the EKU Spring Invitational held at Arlington GC in Richmond, Ky. The Lady Racers stand in eighth place in the field of 12 teams.

The teams and the field of 76 competitors struggled all day against windy conditions. Only seven players managed to shoot under 80.

MSU's Christi Baron fired an 80 in round one and is the Lady Racers top player so far with a spot in eighth place, while Andrea Downer is in 23^rd position after an 83. Megan McKinney is in 31^st place with an 85 and Bethany Yates is in 37^th place after an 86. Lauren Hughes fired an 89 and is in 57^th place.

The leader is Western Kentucky with a score of 324. Eastern Michigan (324), Eastern Kentucky (327), Tennessee Tech (327) and Evansville (328) make up the top five teams.

Round two is set for tomorrow with the final 18 holes to be played Saturday.

The Arlington course is playing to a par of 72 and 5,817 yards.
