Murray State University's rowing team competed in five races against Alabama on Saturday on the Black Warrior River in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Alabama claimed victory in the first varsity-eight race by a one second margin. The Crimson Tide finished in 7:28.5 while Murray State posted a 7:29.6 time.
In the novice-eight, Alabama finished in first and second. The Racers third place time of 8:19.6 was 34.2 seconds off the pace.
Murray State finished second and third in the varsity-four race. Alabama's crew won it in a time of 8:24.5.
In the novice-four, Alabama turned in a 9:13.1 to take the win, while MSU finished in 9:51.1 for second place.
The day ended with a second varsity-eight race. Alabama beat the Racers 7:51.0-7:53.3.
The next scheduled event for MSU is the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships in Oak Ridge, Tenn., on April 20-22.
