Two MSU Rowers Selected As Scholar Athletes

Two Murray State University rowers have been named scholar athletes by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA), the organization recently announced. Junior Anna Brown and junior Karen Delaney were named CRCA National Scholar Athletes.

The award recognizes student-athletes with a 3.5 cumulative grade point average or higher that competed in 75 percent of their team's 2007 spring races. Also, the student-athletes must be in their second, third or fourth year in terms of eligibility and their head coaches must be good standing members of the CRCA.

Brown is chemistry major with a cumulative 3.60 GPA. Delaney is majoring in organized communication and has a 3.72 cumulative GPA.

Brown and Delaney were both members of the Racers' varsity-eight crew that earned a first place medal over Wichita State and Northwestern and a second place medal at the Midwest Collegiate Championships.

With Brown and Delaney as part of the crew, the MSU varsity-eight turned in its best time of the year at the 2007 NCAA Regionals.
