Rueter Speaks At CASA Breakfast

Former Murray State and Major League Baseball star Kirk Rueter made a return to campus Tuesday as the guest speaker at the fundraiser breakfast for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children), which was held at the Regional Special Events Center.
The former MSU star stated that he doesn't like to talk about his career in a large group setting and preferred to talk about his family and how much he loves being a full-time father now that he isn't playing baseball.
Rueter said he was thankful for his parents and wanted to help out CASA which has assisted hundreds of children and serves as an advocate in the court system for children who come from homes where they were neglected or abused.

He was 130-92 (.586) with a career earned-run average of 4.27 and made an immediate impact in his debut in the majors, winning his first 10 professional decisions and sharing the Major League Baseball record for starts without a loss (22) as a hurler for the Montreal Expos.
