MSU golfers compete at Kentucky State Women's Amateur

The 81st Kentucky Women's Amateur moved into match-play Tuesday at Miller Memorial Golf Course and several players with
Seven players with MSU ties played in the championship flight and two of them against each other.
Former Racer Jessica Grace (Widman), seeded 2nd and medalist in the stroke play portion of the tournament with a 72 defeated current MSU player Sarah Seay, the 31st seed 9 and 7 to advance.

MSU's Megan McKinney, the 23rd seed, who will be a sophomore on the MSU squad in the fall, lost her match 3 and 2 to Marsha Bordas the 10th seed.
Former MSU player Stephanie B. Watts (Baskey), the 19th seed lost her match to 14th seed Jenny King 3 and 2.
Bethany Yates, a junior on the MSU squad was the 6th seed and played 27th seed Cheris Evans. She was two down with two holes remaining when the third lightning delay of the day halted play at 4:28 p.m.
Three Racers competed in the first flight.
Ashley Yates a current member of the MSU squad won her match 4 and 3 over Natalie Wesley, while Christi Baron, a former MSU player also won her match 3 and 2 over Erin Marshall. MSU sophomore Kaysin Hutching was a winner by the score of 1-up over Jessica Castleman.
Tina Marshall a former Racer played in the second flight and won her match 5 and 4 over Tammy Pryor.
Play continues Wednesday at Miller Memorial.
