Murray State Football Preseason Practice #12

The
The quarterbacks and wide receivers worked on their footwork and ball protection. The quarterbacks worked on three-step drops and throwing in-and-out of the pocket to receivers, while the running backs also sharpened their footwork skills, going through an obstacle course devised with cones to make sharp cuts in and out of traffic. The offensive line worked on getting leverage, driving with full extension while staying low against the defender.
On defense, the defensive backs and safeties worked on reading the wide receivers' body language to judge where he will go, while the defensive line focused on breaking through the line and pressuring the quarterback into making a quick decision.
The Racers held a brief scrimmage to close out the practice, and the defense stood out, preventing any long plays from scrimmage and keeping the offense off-balance.
About a half-dozen players who are recovering from lingering injuries also spent significant time working with strength coach Justin Cecil, lifting free weights and dumbbells, stretching out their muscles by working with a large elastic strap, and performing various exercises with a Swiss ball.
The Racers return for their fourth of six two-a-day practice Wednesday, going at 8:25 a.m. and 3:45 p.m., in preparation for the second scrimmage of the preseason, which will occur Thursday afternoon at 3:35.
