Murray State head women's soccer coach Beth Acreman announced the hiring of Kevin Botterill as assistant coach who comes to MSU after spending the last four seasons coaching the men's and women's soccer programs at Oakland City University in Evansville, Ind.
“I feel very excited about coming to Murray State,” Botterill said. “I've known Coach Acreman for a while and she is determined to create a top quality program and I want to be part of that.”
Acreman says Botterill is an excellent coach with emphasis on goal keeping.
“I'm excited Kevin chose to become part of our coaching staff, he has a great background in soccer,” Acreman said. “He will be a great asset to our team and our goal keeping in particular.”
Botterill, a native of Leed's, England, led the Mighty Oaks men's team to the program's first post-season victory as OCU made a successful move from NAIA to NCAA D-II. In 2003, Botterill coached the OCU women's team to its first-ever winning season and took the team to an NCAA regional twice.
He has also served as director for the Southwest Indiana Soccer Association since 2003 and coached for various youth club teams across the country from Wisconsin to New York including the SWISA U-17 boy's team from Southern Indiana.
“It is my hope to see Murray State challenge for the conference title year in and year out,” Botterill said. “We can if we bring in good recruiting classes and coach them well.”
Botterill played college soccer at the University of Durham and graduated in 2000. He earned a master's degree from Wesley College in 2003.
