Murray State Football Preseason Practice #1
8/6/2007 5:00:00 AM | Football
The Murray State football team completed their first preseason practice today on the practice field behind Stewart Stadium.
A majority of the drills focused on fundamentals, getting the players' feet wet as this was the first time several of them saw football action since spring workouts.
The offensive line mainly worked on getting proper position, footwork, getting in stance and staying low, while the defense focused on snap counts and not moving off the line until the ball was snapped.
The quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, and tight ends all worked on basic draw plays, running routes, and pass plays.
The special teams were busy today, working on punting and punt coverage, long snapping, and kicking field goals.
A brief 11-on-11 scrimmage concluded the day, pitting the offense vs. the defense for about 15-20 minutes before the team adjourned for treatments around 6 p.m.
Practice #2 is scheduled for Tuesday at 3:35 p.m. Be sure to check back daily to GoRacers.com for your preseason Racer football coverage.
