Wasioto Winds Fall Kick-Off Invitational

The Murray State men's golf team finished a strong third place in the Wasioto Winds Fall Kick-off Tuesday in Pineville, Ky. The 54-hole tournament was played at Wasioto Winds GC in Pine Mountain State Resort Park, and hosted by Morehead State.

The Racers fired a final round 286, their best of the event after carding 287 and 292 in the opening rounds. The Racers 865 was two shots better than fourth place Tennessee-Martin. MSU had a total of 865 which was 25 shots behind winner Eastern Kentucky with an 840. Southern Illinois finished second at 848.

Nick Newcomb turned in the Racers' best finish with a fourth place showing after rounds of 68-69-72=209.

Jared Wolfe rallied to a 13^th place finish after a final round 69. His total was 217 with the first two rounds of 71-77.

Cameron Carrico fired rounds of 77-70-73=220 to finish in 19^th place, while Jerry Price had scores of 73-77-72=222 to finish 25^th. Mitchell Moore placed 41^st with rounds of 75-76-76=227.

Chris Griffin and Hunter Ford played as individuals and both finished in 36^th place. Griffin had scores of 80-74-72=226, while Ford had rounds of 75-75-76=226.

Trey Bowling of Eastern Kentucky was the medalist for the event with rounds of 72-65-68=205.

Murray State's next event is Saturday at the Midwest Shootout hosted by Purdue in West Lafayette, Ind.
