MSU Soccer Takes 3-1 Victory At EKU

The Murray State Racers scored a 3-1 victory Sunday in Ohio Valley Conference Soccer over Eastern Kentucky in
The Racers scored early and had a 3-0 lead by the half.
“It was great to see a couple different people score today,” MSU Head Coach Beth Acreman said. “I think we came in with the right mental attitude today.”
The scoring started in the eighth minute when Veronika Pribyslavska scored her first collegiate goal on an assist from Rachel Wright.
MSU tacked on another goal in the 29th minute when Wright and Melisa Curry assisted on a goal by Katie Wilson, her fifth of the season for a 2-0 MSU lead.
Laken Dirkes scored her second goal of the season in the 29th minute off a set-up by Rebecca Shultz and the Racers enjoyed a 3-0 lead at the break.
MSU was on track for a shutout until EKU scored in the 86th minute to make it a 3-1 final.
The Racers out-shot the Colonels 15-13 for the game and led 10-6 in shots on goal.
Tara Isbell got the win in goal for MSU as she made five saves.
“EKU had some good possessions and they fought hard in the match,” Acreman said. “And I was very happy that we got another great team effort.”
GAME NOTES
The win means the Racers can clinch the OVC regular season title Friday at home against Austin Peay. The Racers host the Govs at 3 p.m. at Cutchin Field. The match against TTU on Sunday Oct. 26 will also be senior day for MSU soccer as Rebekah Clay, Melisa Curry, Jane Dewitt, Krista Muilkens, and Kellyn Robison play their final regular season home game.
